The health of your body is a reflection of the interconnected relationships of your body, mind, and spirit. Maintaining balance in these relationships creates health and vibrancy in the physical body. Because of the connection between your mind and body, your emotions play a vital role in how health is experienced in the physical body. Disturbances manifest as visible evidence (such as pain, injury, disease, hostility, fear, anger, etc.) and are almost always the reason you seek help.
Reference Point Therapy (RPT) is a safe and gentle therapy that guides you through a step-by-step process to determine, access and align with the deepest underlying original cause of your trauma or presenting symptoms. For it is this “original reference point” that anchors your trauma or symptom pattern in your physical body. This whole process allows you to make peace with any experience and disengages the automatic stress response held in the brain.
“I credit Michele for reminding me how to connect with my inner wisdom to care for my body, mind and spirit.” - Terri R.
During Your Therapy Session
We will begin your session with a quick question and answer to determine what is going on and where the problem areas are in your body. Sometimes unrelated symptoms give us clues about what is going in the physical body now, so be sure to give an honest account of all symptoms even if they don’t appear to be related to what’s got your attention in the present moment. The other purpose of the Q/A is to determine if you have sensitivities to aromas and to familiarize you with the routine so that you can let go and relax. Your comfort is our first priority, so please take this time to ask any questions or give us any feedback.
Your session will take place in a private therapy room or in the comfort of your own home via telephone or a Skype communication. We will be dialoguing through simple conversation, with you sitting or lying in a comfortable position. You will remain fully clothed.
Reference Point Therapy is accomplished through a very simple guided conversation that discovers the deepest root of your issue. First we discover and access the original reference point of your trauma or symptoms. Then we bring your conscious awareness to this original reference point through a structured acknowledgement and forgiveness process. This brings your experience into alignment within your body, mind and spirit and your distress is rapidly released.
Your therapy session will be comprised of the techniques that your practitioner feels will best address the underlying root cause of your symptoms.
Your RPT practitioner will ask you to quantify your level of discomfort at different points throughout your session in order to measure the improvement you experience during your therapy session.
You may feel some discomfort during your session but this is only to help you release resistance to alignment and balance. Even if discomfort is felt, we will work within a level that is comfortably tolerable to you, based on your feedback throughout your session. Once balanced, your symptoms should be alleviated.
“She said on an energetic level, my bladder had very chaotic energy and performed core to calm it down and balance it. She also incorporated RPT to address the emotional component of the bladder issue and I was able to release an emotional experience during the session.” - Carol H.
What conditions does Reference Point Therapy treat?
Reference Point Therapy does not claim to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical condition; therefore, it is not pathology specific. Reference Point Therapy is not replacement therapy for medical treatment. It is a complimentary therapy that can be used with any existing medical treatment.
How long is a Reference Point Therapy session?
Sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, with a 15-30 minute follow-up session the following week after your RPT session.
Will Reference Point Therapy challenge my religious views?
Reference Point Therapy is practiced by people of all religions and spiritual views. It is a therapy that helps to remove the underlying root cause of misalignment of your body, mind, and spirit. Although spiritual in nature, it does not take on any particular religious form, practice or language. Reference Point Therapy helps you release the blockages that may be interfering with your connection to a Higher Power.
Will I have to relive my trauma in order for it to be released?
We will not regress you into reliving anything in your past. You do not have to talk about your trauma or dive into the details of your trauma. However, it is important that we discuss your emotions and how you feel. If you wish to talk about your past to let it out, we are here to support and facilitate the release and alignment process. Please know that we will never force you to resolve or let go of anything you do not what to change. We will move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you. You are always in the driver’s seat.
After Your Therapy Session
You should experience immediate relief from Reference Point Therapy. Emotional changes are normally felt instantly. On occasion, physical changes are felt immediately. You should expect pain levels to improve immediately but acute conditions (physical injuries) may require more time. If several sessions are required, you should progressively feel improvement after each session.
Your mind-body will continue to unwind and integrate the benefits you received during your therapy session over the next 24-72 hours.
We will touch base with you the following week after your session to check on you. Your follow-up session will only address what we worked on in your last therapy session.
To effect the best possible integration of your therapy session, be sure to boost your consumption of purified water the day of your session and for 24-48 hours afterwards. Although not required, honor your body by resting immediately following your therapy session. Celebrate the success of your session. Leaving your superhero cape off for the remainder of the day is one of the most supportive choices you can make to facilitate improvement.
Will I experience any side effects after a session?
There are no side effects of a Reference Point Therapy session. In fact, you should experience relief on a deep level because Reference Point Therapy takes you through the alignment of your stress experience and release of your symptoms.
Will this therapy session heal me?
Reference Point Therapy practitioners are not healers. We hold the view that healing is an inside job and it is accomplished by removing the blockages that interfere with the balance and alignment of your body, mind and spirit. Your practitioner’s responsibility is to discover, access, and hold the space for you to align with the trauma or symptom experience you present with. This deep state of alignment and balance is where change and improvement occurs.
